Howarth XL English Horn

Description

Many of the greatest recordings have been and still are made using Howarth English horns. The XL English horns have been designed with a unique tone hole structure to give the instrument the focused sound expected from the XL range, with exceptional projection and intonation.

The keywork of the XL models has been modified for greater comfort while playing. The right-hand keys have received the most attention, giving the player greater dexterity through careful positioning of the keywork. The XL English horn comes with a separate low Bb extension. The addition of a B vent on the bell enhances the quality of the low B. Keywork can be finished in gold or silver plate, or made entirely from solid silver.

These English Horns are available with partially-lined or synthetic top joints, or a full synthetic body. They are supplied in Howarth professional cases with a luxury case cover. They are supplied with a range of accessories including cleaning materials, cork grease and a reedcase. Two bocals are supplied with every instrument.

The bocal is a vital part of the instrument. It can affect the pitch, the relative intonation within the scale, the response throughout the range, as well as the projection and sound quality. Bocals are available in four lengths (0-1-2-3) and are made from brass which is generously silver- or gold-plated. Solid silver bocals are available to special order.
